Install notes — read before you buy
This is a straightforward install for a competent DIYer or any performance shop, but there are two things HKS requires that catch first-timers off guard:
- You must trim the OEM front bump stop when adjusting the front drop past -17mm (most people run more than that). It's a foam-style stop — a razor blade takes ~30 seconds per side. A replacement OEM stop is available if you ever revert.
- The included packer must be installed when the front thread adjustment exceeds 24mm. Below 24mm, remove the packer. HKS's included manual walks through the exact measurement.
Alignment is required after install — the drop changes camber and toe. Budget for it.
Installation is straightforward with a spring compressor. Torque specs are printed in the HKS manual. Kinetic Autoworks installs these in-house — request an install quote.

Will this work with my A91-MT (manual transmission) Supra?
Yes. HKS confirmed fitment on the A91-MT during their own conformity check. Ride height and spring rates are identical to the automatic RZ.
Do I need the HKS Suspension Error Canceler (45012-AT001)?
No. Unlike KW V1/V3 coilovers, the Hipermax Touring works with the factory adaptive damper system without triggering error codes.
Will I lose adaptive damper functionality (Sport/Comfort modes)?
No. The OEM electronic dampers stay in the car and continue to function on both modes.
How does it compare to just running Eibach Pro-Kits?
Eibach gives you a fixed 1.7"/1.2" drop for about $600 less. HKS gives you adjustability (dial in exact wheel gap), OEM-matched spring rates, and includes the upgraded bump stops/boots that Eibach doesn't. Do I need a corner balance?
Not required, but recommended if you're setting an aggressive drop. A standard 4-wheel alignment is required.
How aggressive does it look at max drop?
At -48mm/-53mm you're basically at coilover-level slam. Most owners settle around -30 to -35mm front / -35 to -40mm rear for the "OEM+" look with no wheel gap.
