  • Description

The HKS Dual Hi-Power Titanium-Tip Cat-Back is the exhaust that finally lets the B58 breathe without turning your Supra into a straight-piped tractor. Titanium burnt-blue tips, SUS304 stainless piping, 13% lighter than stock, and — critically — it reuses the factory electronic valve so you still get quiet cruising in Comfort and full B58 growl in Sport at the press of a button.

Why the stock A90 exhaust holds you back

The factory Supra exhaust is deliberately quiet and deliberately restrictive. Toyota tuned it for BMW's global emissions and drive-by noise standards, not for the B58's actual capability. The stock system weighs approximately 30kg, chokes flow past 4,000 RPM, and the valve programming is conservative — most of the time it stays partially closed even in Sport mode.

You can hear the difference at idle: 58dB stock vs. 66dB with the HKS in Sport mode. You can measure the difference on the dyno. And you can feel it in throttle response as soon as the turbo starts spooling.

What HKS actually changed

  • Full dual muffler design (DTi) with the same SUS304 stainless HKS uses on their JDM race programs
  • 119mm titanium tips with burnt-blue heat finish that will not fade or peel
  • 85mm center pipe stepping down to 70mm x2 rear piping — sized to flow well past stock turbo capacity without sounding hollow
  • Retains the factory exhaust valve and actuator — this is the killer feature. Most catbacks force you to gut the valve or run open all the time. HKS engineered the muffler around the OEM valve module so your Sport button still works exactly as designed
  • 13% weight reduction — approximately 26kg vs. 30kg stock (per HKS internal spec sheet)
  • Fits under the stock rear diffuser — no cutting, no bumper trimming, no gap around the tips

Verified performance

Configuration Result Source
Catback only, stock DP + stock tune Subjective throttle response gain, minimal peak HP change SupraMKV community consensus
Catback + Armytrix high-flow DP + VR Tuned flash +20 whp / +60 wtq over baseline Vivid Racing project car dyno
HKS manufacturer claim (with supporting mods) Up to +30 hp HKS Japan third-party dyno testing
Sound level, close (Sport) 90 dB (stock 88 dB) HKS official spec sheet
Idle level, Sport mode 66 dB (stock 58 dB) HKS official spec sheet

Honest note: a catback alone does not add 30 hp on the A90. The bottleneck is the OEM downpipe and the tune. Pair this catback with a high-flow downpipe and a proper Stage 1 or Stage 2 tune and you will see real gains. Buy this exhaust for sound, weight loss, and the killer titanium tips — the power gains are the bonus.

Fitment (read carefully)

Fits:

  • 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 (A90 / A91 chassis, B58 engine, RWD)
  • All US-market A90/A91 3.0 trims (base, Premium, Launch Edition, A91 Edition, A91-CF, A91-MT, 45th Anniversary)

Does NOT fit:

  • 2026 Final Edition — different exhaust routing, use a Final-Edition-specific system
  • 2.0L A90 Supra — this is B58 3.0T only, the 2.0L uses different hangers and mid-pipe
  • Any A90 with factory OPF (Otto Particulate Filter) — this is primarily a concern for European-market Supras. US and JDM cars are not OPF-equipped. If you are unsure, look under the car — an OPF-equipped Supra has an extra canister between the downpipe and the mid-pipe

What's in the box

  • Full HKS dual muffler cat-back exhaust system (mid-pipe + main muffler with dual outlets)
  • Titanium burnt-blue tips (pre-installed on the mufflers)
  • All required flange gaskets
  • Mounting bolts, washers, spring washers, and nuts
  • HKS installation manual (English)

Not included: exhaust hangers (reuse OEM rubber hangers), downpipe, catalyst.

Installation notes

The HKS installs in about 2-3 hours for a competent DIYer with a lift and basic hand tools. Key points from the HKS manual and from the SupraMKV community:

  • Lift the car and let it cool. The exhaust runs at 800°F+ after a spirited drive. Do this cold or risk a serious burn
  • Reuse the OEM rubber hangers unless yours are cracked or torn. Replacements are cheap from any BMW parts vendor (B58 shares the hangers)
  • Install the intermediate pipe first, temporarily tightened. Then hang the main muffler on the rubber hangers. Only fully torque everything once the tip alignment is correct against the rear diffuser cutouts
  • Torque the flange bolts in the sequence specified in the HKS PDF — front to rear. Over-torque a rear flange first and you will pull the alignment off
  • Verify tip clearance to the diffuser before final torque. Plastic diffusers can melt if the tip is touching
  • After install, warm the car up to 2,500 RPM and check every flange for exhaust leaks. Fix any leak before you drive it — a small leak now becomes a burned-through gasket later
  • Test drive, then re-check every flange after the first heat cycle

Do you actually need this exhaust?

The A90 exhaust market is crowded. Here is our honest read of where the HKS wins and where it loses:

Buyer profile Best choice Why
Wants factory-quiet cruising, aggressive on Sport, and factory-perfect fit HKS Hi-Power (this exhaust) Only major catback that fully integrates with the OEM valve module. Comfort mode is genuinely close to stock volume
Wants the loudest, most aggressive tone regardless of drone Tomei Expreme Ti or Armytrix valved Louder, more crackle-and-pop, but more highway drone and no factory valve control on some setups
Wants the lightest possible full-titanium exhaust and money is no object Akrapovic Evolution Line Full titanium, ~$5,000+, arguably the best-sounding but 65% more expensive
Budget-focused, wants a good sound without breaking $2k Milltek or AWE Touring Stainless steel, resonated, keeps the OPF if you have one. Sound is milder

Buy the HKS if you want a JDM-pedigree exhaust that fits like OEM, sounds noticeably better without being obnoxious, and preserves the valve programming that makes the A90 livable in traffic.

Frequently asked questions

Will this fit my 2026 Supra Final Edition?
No. The 2026 Final Edition uses a different rear exhaust routing. This system is for 2020-2025 A90/A91 only.

Will the factory Sport button still work?
Yes. This is the HKS Hi-Power's biggest engineering win. The valve, actuator, and control module all remain OEM. When you press Sport, the valve opens exactly like it did with the stock exhaust. In Comfort or Normal, the valve closes and you get a much more livable volume.

How loud is it, actually?
HKS measures 90 dB at close-proximity in Sport mode vs. 88 dB stock. In real-world driving, community consensus from SupraMKV and Reddit r/Supra puts it at roughly "stock is a 2 out of 5, HKS is a 3.5 to 4 out of 5" — noticeably louder and deeper, but not obnoxious. Valve closed and you're basically at stock volume. Valve open and it screams like a proper straight-six.

Is there drone at highway speed?
A small number of owners report mild drone in 7th gear around 30-40 mph. Most owners report no drone at highway cruise (60-80 mph). If you are drone-sensitive, keep the valve closed on the highway. If you are combining this with a catless downpipe, expect more drone regardless of exhaust.

Do I need a tune with this exhaust?
No, this is a bolt-on catback and will not throw any codes on its own. However, if you want to actually gain the horsepower HKS advertises, you need a downpipe and a tune (MHD, BM3, or dealer-tune equivalent). The catback by itself is a sound and weight upgrade.

Will this work with my downpipe?
Yes, this catback bolts to the stock downpipe flange or to any A90 aftermarket downpipe using the OEM flange pattern. Confirmed compatible with Armytrix, VRSF, ETS, Wagner, and other major aftermarket downpipes.

Does this require any electrical modifications?
No. It uses the OEM actuator and OEM valve wiring exactly as-is.

What about the OPF question?
US-market A90/A91 Supras do not have an OPF. This exhaust is designed for non-OPF cars, which covers 100% of US-spec Supras. If you imported a European Supra, look under your car for an extra canister between the downpipe and the mid-pipe — if it's there, you have an OPF and need a different exhaust.

Can I install this in my driveway with hand tools?
Yes, if you have a way to lift the car safely (2-post lift, 4-post lift, or good ramps + jack stands). Standard metric hand tools, a torque wrench, and PB Blaster to loosen any stubborn factory bolts. Budget 2-3 hours if it's your first exhaust job. A shop with a lift can do it in about an hour.

Warranty?
HKS Limited Warranty covers manufacturing defects. Damage from improper installation, off-road use, or modification is not covered.
