Install Notes (Real Gotchas)
- Get an alignment scheduled BEFORE you drop the car. Ride height change of 25mm+ moves camber, toe, and caster measurably. Driving on an unaligned lowered A90 chews the inside edge of expensive tires in a weekend.
- Spring compressor is mandatory. The A90 strut assembly is under significant load. Use a proper wall-mount compressor, not the auto-parts-store cheap ones.
- Torque the top mount nut to spec. BMW/Toyota calls out an angle-torque procedure — follow it. Under-torqued top nuts back off and destroy the strut.
- Set the shims BEFORE you install. Adjusting shim height after the spring is loaded is much harder and often means uninstalling.
- Reset the EDC calibration. After install, do a full ignition cycle and drive 10+ minutes to let the EDC ECU re-baseline. Any residual warning light should clear on its own within a drive cycle.
