Dyno Tuning Checklist

 

*THIS MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO YOUR DYNO TUNE*

 

  • Vehicle MUST be in proper working order. If there is any issue prior to the tune we need to be made aware of it at which point we will give you an estimate on the repair to be completed before the vehicle is even strapped down to the dyno. If there is any problem found with the vehicle while it is on the dyno we will discontinue the tune and give you a repair estimate based on our diagnosis. You will be only be charged for a portion of the tune at this point.
  • AT LEAST ½ tank of gas (Full Tank for E-85 (If using pump E-85, verify the Ethanol %)/Methanol) is required before tuning. If you do not have a sufficient amount of fuel in the car you will be charged extra for our time to put fuel in it. (VPRacing Fuel is available, please call for availability and pricing)
  • CHECK OIL AND TRANS FLUID LEVEL AND CONDITION
  • Tires must have a sufficient amount of tread left. We will not tune a car that has any chords showing 
  • Have your compression checked before coming in for your appointment. If the tuner has to stop for any reason to check compression or leakdown you will be charged extra. Depending on results, you will only be charged for a portion of your time on the dyno.
  • Make sure you are using a clutch suited for the power you expect to be making. If you are unsure please contact us for recommendations. 
  • Check entire exhaust system for leaks 
  • Intake, Vacuum, and Intercooler piping/lines must be properly sealed/clamped.
  • Your vehicle must be equipped with factory tow hooks or a safe alternative to strap it down quickly and efficiently.
  • All electrical components in the engine bay must be properly installed and secured. There should be NO exposed wire anywhere. This will incur an extra charge to repair before the tune begins.
  • Make sure all engine grounds are clean and secure 
  • There should be no CEL (check engine light) with the exception of auxiliary sensors that can be disabled (such as knock and secondary o2 sensors). These should be diagnosed before your car sees the dyno.
  • Know what kind of fuel pump you have in the car and how old it is. If you don’t know this information it would be a good idea to have this replaced before your tune. 
  • Check/Replace fuel filter if it is over 5 years old 
  • There should be no fluid leaks on the vehicle. If your car leaks oil, coolant, or any other fluids on the dyno you will be charged a cleanup fee
  • Vehicle must be able to drive straight. It is a good idea to have it properly aligned before your appointment.
  • Know what spark plugs you are using, how old they are, and what they are gapped to.
